On behalf of the Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT), I'd like to extend a warm welcome to our website, in which we include information about our activities and services.
This portal is also intended as a testimony to the growth experienced by the Catalan Data Protection Authority since its inception. The APDCAT was created by means of Law 5/2002, of 19 April, published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat of Catalonia (DOGC) number 3625 of 29 April 2002, but effectively initiated its activities in October 2003.
The website sets out to capture the values on which the Catalan Data Protection Authority is based, as well as to demonstrate its undertaking as an institution dedicated to communicating the fundamental right to the protection of personal data. It aims to be something more than merely a snapshot of the Authority's current situation.
The commitment to people, the intention to highlight developments and challenges that take place in the field of personal data protection and the desire to serve have a special presence in this website, being the distinctive features that define us.
